Michael Osborne, McMahon Osborne Consulting
“The Coach rather than just the Score Keeper”
McMahon Osborne Consulting was established in 1987. As well as 3 partners and 15 staff, the firm has over 1400 individual clients, 500 business clients and provides clients with accounting, tax and GST services.
Michael Osborne of McMahon Osborne Consulting says, “We go that extra step and work closely with individual clients. For example, we have a property advisor and locate good quality property and we’ll actually go with the clients to the property and get tenants for them. We also have our own finance, insurance and financial planning services so that we can satisfy our clients every needs. In terms of business clients, we have a separate bookkeeping arm.”
Michael reports that “over 70%” of his clients use Cashflow Manager and that “98% provide reconciled records”. Comparatively, “10%-20% of clients using other programs reconcile”, which is a substantial difference.
Cashflow Manager training for clients is conducted via the bookkeeping division of McMahon Osborne Consulting and is generally on a one to one basis.
Michael states that Cashflow Manager has “definitely increased efficiency and productivity” in his practice.
“Cashflow Manager has increased productivity in our firm allowing us to get on with other work. We’ve only just recently set up business advisory/development. I’m not bogged down with daily work and bookkeeping, so I have more time to do other things,” says Michael.
According to Michael it’s not just the practice and himself that benefits, Michael’s clients gain from using Cashflow Manager in their businesses: “the client benefits as well because they have some form of reconciled reports”.
“It’s an extremely simple way to standardize the source documentation that comes into your office. Cashflow Manager is a simple and cost efficient way to increase the productivity and efficiency within our firm, allowing us to work on things far more important than bookkeeping,” says Michael.
Michael believes that those Accounting firms not currently recommending Cashflow Manager “really should have a look at the benefits it does provide.”
Cashflow Manager has enabled Michael to engage in work that he prefers to do and has given him time to be able to concentrate on more strategic issues with regard to his clients.
“Cashflow Manager has allowed me to pass work down the line delegate work to more juniors in the firm which again I come back to has allowed me to do more of the things I’d like to do which is working with our individual and business clients on creating wealth, not just accounting for it,” says Michael.
Michael takes great pride in developing his role beyond general accounting to business advising: “Instead of just being the score keeper, Cashflow Manager has allowed me to go out and be the coach”.
