Upgrading to the latest version of Cashflow Manager-Frequently asked questions

By keeping your accounting software up to date, you are making sure that your business is as compliant with current legislation as it can be. This is important for all Cashflow Manager users, but especially Cashflow Manager GOLD and Wages Manager as the taxes, superannuation and other requirements involved with paying employees change from year to year. Here are some of your frequently asked questions about upgrading your Cashflow Manager programs.

How do I upgrade to the latest version?

The easiest and quickest way to upgrade to the latest version of the program, is to visit the Cashflow Manager Download Centre. 

  1. Select the program you wish to install: Cashflow Manager, Cashflow Manager GOLD or Wages Manager and save it to a location of your choice.Once the file has finished downloading, navigate to its location and double-click on the file.
  2. You may receive a Windows Security Message. This is a generic message created when you download any type of software. The Cashflow Manager download is quite safe. To run and install the program click on [More Info] and then [Run Anyway].
  3. You can now follow the prompts on the Installation Wizard to complete the installation.

Do I have to upgrade in order or can I upgrade to the latest version straight away?

We have had a number of queries on this matter! You do not have to upgrade your program in order. For example, if you are on Cashflow Manager 7.5 you can upgrade straight to Version 10. When upgrading always choose the latest version of Cashflow Manager that is available, as this will ensure you are compliant with current legislation and have all the latest features.

I have installed my upgrade. How do I import data from an older version of Cashflow Manager? 

  1. Open Cashflow Manager 9, and select ‘Create New Business’. Then click [Next].
  2. Select [Yes] when it asks if you have an existing Cashflow Manager file you wish to import. Then click [Next].
  3. It will then ask you to select the file you wish to import. When importing an older file and clicking on the [Browse] button you can either import (.cf_) or backup (.bc_) files.
  4. When you have selected the file click on the [Open] button to return to the Cashflow Manager wizard.
  5. When you are ready to proceed, click on [Next].
  6. A ‘Save in’ window will appear so you can select the location for your file. The default location will be C:\Users\Your Computer Username\AppData\Roaming\CFM\Cashflow10\Data.
  7. Click on [Save] to save your file.

    I installed V9 in a second laptop successfully and wanted import a backed up .bc9 file
    It came up with some error about debugging etc or unhandled exception

      Thanks for your message.
      I think you should be ‘restoring’ your file not importing the bc9 file.
      To restore your file:
      1. Open Cashflow Manager 9
      2. Click on ‘File’
      3. Click on ‘Restore’ – the Data Restore screen will appear.
      4. Select the location of the file to restore by clicking on the ‘Browse’ button for the ‘Restore
      Source’ (eg. USB drive, CD drive, External Hard-drive).
      5. The name of your file (bc9) should appear in the box, select your file & click ‘Open’.
      6. Click on ‘Restore’
      7. If a message should appear asking you if you wish to overwrite a file, Click on ‘Yes’.
      8. Your restored file will now open, allowing you to continue your record keeping.

    My client has sent me bc3 file as backup for its data on CM and I have CM9. How should I restore the said file onto my CM9 as restore only gives option to open bc9 files?

    Is Cashflow manager able to be operated remotely. We have a point of sale location, where invoices and payments for them are entered, but we want to also be able to input data from a different location on a laptop. How do we achieve this?

    I have purchased the new Cashflow Manager 11 as I am currently using Cashflow 8 which is about to cease working. I made payment via credit card on my iphone and my account has been cleared of the $264 it cost me but I have no idea where I get the download from to upgrade. I thought I may receive an email or something but have received nothing at all and I will not be able to use the 8 version as of tomorrow. I am not very computer savvy so could you please tell me where I can find version 11. My order number is 27447

      Hi Nina, We have had a significant number of customers on the version you are on, unable to access their software after a recent Microsoft Windows update.
      We encourage you to make sure you are running the latest version of Cashflow Manager for this very reason.     Hi, I am trying to install the latest upgrade to CFM but when I open the download I keep getting the error message that Cashflow Manager has stopped working, with the option to check online for a solution or to close the program. Nothing I am doing is working. I am currently using version 11.0.5
    I have checked quarantine in Norton but CFM is not showing up as quarantined.

    My CFM programme (11.2) is not opening. I’ve downloaded the latest upgrade to see if that resolved the problem, however, no luck. It was working yesterday? When it doesn’t open, a small dialogue box says, ‘web service error’. Any suggestions?

    Dear CFM.
    I believe I have successfully updated my CFM to the latest version. At least I went through all the right procedures so hopefully it is correct. It has been fine up until this morning when it wont open at all and I get ‘Web Service Error’ pop up box. What is it. What is wrong and how do I fix it REALLY QUICKLY.
